X-Y-Z LINEAR AXIS
X axis - Longitudinal Gantry Movement
The gantry slides on two welded bedplates,
each one supporting two highly rigid slide
ways with 12 low-maintenance self
lubricated roller-sliding blocks.
In order to obtain maximum performance, in
terms of speed and accuracy, each side of
the gantry is moved by an extremely rigid
dual drive system consisting in a rack with
two motors and two helical pinions with
electronic backlash recovery. The couple of
double motors and pinions are also driven in
gantry mode: thanks to its servo-drive the
system is capable, by reading left and right optical scale positions, of driving left and right gantry shoulder square
with respect to y axis, therefore avoiding any possible hysteresis.
The reading system with double HEIDENHAIN high-resolution linear scales ensures the movement and dual drive
constant monitoring. The 4 large slide-ways size 55, as well as the reading system, are protected by a walkable
roller shutter, assuring an easy access to the working area.
Y axis – Saddle Cross Movement
Y Axis Stroke
This is a variable-section welded steel structure,
with 2 highly rigid slide-ways with 2+2 low
maintenance self-lubricated roller sliding blocks.
Movement transmission is obtained through an
extremely rigid system consisting in a rack and
two helical pinions with two motors with
automatic electronic backlash recovery.
The dynamic and positioning accuracy is
ensured by HEIDENHAIN high-resolution linear
scale. The 2 guide-ways size 65 and reading
system are protected by a flexible shutter.
Z axis – Vertical Ram Movement
Z Axis Stroke
The machine ram has a symmetrical structure around the spindle
axis size 500x500 mm. It is made of fabricated steel having very
accurate thermal treatment in order to release all possible
molecular tensions.
Z-axis slides on two highly rigid slide-ways size 65, with 6 low
maintenance self-lubricated roller sliding blocks. Movement
transmission is obtained through an extremely rigid system
consisting in a rack and two pinions with two motors with automatic
electronic backlash recovery.
A double pneumo-hydraulic counterweight system with 2 pistons
and accumulators balances the weight of the ram and the head on
Z-axis motion gearing.
The dynamic and positional accuracy is ensured by a reading system
constituted by HEIDENHAIN high-resolution linear scales.
Machine axes Drive (Backlash Recovery)
All the machine axes (x) (y) and (z) are driven by a system realized by two motors having two helicoidal pinion
matched on the same rack
The electronic backlash recovery is obtained thanks to the digital servo-drive that is generating a mechanical
preload between the two pinions (mechanical coupling)
Practically the system drives one pinion slightly forward with respect to the other in this why the pre-load is
realized.
This system has the advantage that it des not require any adjustment; this because one pinion is always in
advance with respect to the other and it automatically recovers the possible wear between pinion and rack.
HEAD & SPINDLE
B.U.S.S. System
With the aim of exploiting new opportunities in high-speed technologies, JOBS has conceived a system for
automatically exchanging the head on the machine with another head with different size and/or features. The
clamping strength ensures the best rigidity of the system and the best exploitation of the spindle features.
BUSS Spindle line design and advantages
The mechanical spindle line of the EVER machines represents a new
generation for high power spindle drives systems with full five axis
interpolation capabilities:
The focuses of the new design are:
• Higher reliability
• Increased maintainability
• Increased performances
• Simpler design
These goals are achieved in the following ways:
• The spindle line doesn’t need a mechanical gearbox because
the spindle motor is a new generation unit with an electrical
switching between low and high gear(Delta-wye switching).
• The simplified system is easier to service, when compared to a
conventional spindle line. The entire system can be just
lowered on the machine table, without the need of
disassembling a complex spindle line
• The lack of a mechanical gearbox means less power losses
and an higher power available at the tool, with the same
spindle motor specifications
• The spindle motor is water-cooled: this, together with the lack
of gearbox, removes any heat source form the machine ram,
granting a better thermal stability
• The entire spindle motor housing is rotating with the C axis,
thus removing the need of electrical slip rings and hydraulic
collectors, both expensive and critical from the reliability of the
machine

T35C geared fork head 5000rpm
High performance, heavy duty geared fork head. The head
is designed for continuative cutting of hard metals. One side
of the fork houses the transmission line while the other side
houses the A axis cinematic chain and the A axis direct
encoder.
The head is equipped with Hydraulic brakes for both rotary
axis to grant the maximum cutting stability when not
interpolating. Tool taper is HSK-A-100
Continuous 5-Axis Machine Head T3K
This is the ideal multipurpose head for 5 axes milling of
metals (including ferrous and non ferrous alloys), high
productivity aerostructures milling and complex styling
and prototyping tasks.
The fork head is steel fabricated and contains, on one
side the A axis gearing and direct measuring system; on
the opposite side electric power feeding for the spindle
motors.
The hydraulic clamping system for the A axis is
symmetrical to guarantee the optimal locking force
without compromising the geometrical accuracy of the
head. A Siemens high performance servomotor, provides
movement of the A axis by means of a kinematics chain
with a mechanical backlash compensation system. A common head body in the centre of the fork,
fits the T3K head adopting the JIMS system for service spindle cartridge change.

and hydraulic collectors for tools cooling (through tool and flood
coolant line are both available). The internal gearing is lubricated
with a minimum quantity lubrication system.
The head is composed by two main structures with a rotation plane
with a 45° angle. Orientation is automatic for all the models and
locking is granted by HIRTH crowns (0.02° indexing)
Through an indexing system the two half-cases of the head are
automatically adjustable on 360° by a dedicated motor.
Note: For the heads in BUSS configuration the interpolation and
indexing capabilities of the rear rotation plane are defined by the
specific BUSS C axis installed in the machine.
The spindle rotation is assured by the machine spindle motor located inside the ram.
Tool taper is HSK-A-100
Indexing configuration
The universal head is supplied with an high accuracy
indexing and locking system that grants a 0.02°
indexing on front plane.
This locking mechanism is based on one HIRTH crowns
triplet (indicated by small colored squares in the
picture above), unique for Jobs machines, grants the
finer indexing available on the market without
sacrificing stiffness or locking force. This makes this
Jobs universal head the most rigid on a market where
accuracy and stiffness are a key point.
